When we first started winning advertising awards I thought it was the coolest thing – shiny trophies, bowls, plaques, certificates, statuettes, hunks of Lucite – acknowledgement from “the experts” that they liked our work. And, let’s be honest, it’s also been great publicity for us.
Through the years we’ve gotten better and better at doing what really counts – getting bottom-line results for our clients.
Now that we’ve won over 700 awards, including most of the BIG awards – from Clio, IBA, ADDY, Hatch, New York International, Sunny, Silver Microphone, Mobius, RAC, London International, ANDY, EFFIE, The One Show, and hundreds of regional awards, the thrill of winning another award isn’t what motivates us. We still consistently win, but it’s not the same.
However, the continual thrill of hearing our clients getting results, now that’s sweet. I’m happy to say that most of the commercials that have won us all those paperweights and wall decorations really got results in the marketplace.
I think that some people use us to win awards, and as a side benefit we get results for their clients. Others use us to get results and we win them awards as a bonus.
